As you drive through the vast grounds, you will see large American bison running at great speed, giraffes and elephants in the distance. It is such a spectacular sight that you will wonder if you are really in Oita Japan!
This is Kyushu’s only safari park-style zoo, where many wild animals live freely in the vast nature of approximately 1,150,000 square meters.
In the “Safari Zone”. lions, cheetahs, tigers, giraffes, zebras, rhinoceroses, bison, deer, and other large wild animals can be observed by private car or the “Jungle Bus,” an ecology observation bus.
Feeding lions, elephants, and camels directly from the jungle bus is a thrilling experience! Both children and adults are excited by the power of wild animals.
The design of the “Jungle Bus” is animal-shaped, making it very popular among children. There are 11 types of buses, including lions, elephans, tigers, and rhinos. It is fun to see which bus you can ride.
In your own car, you can observe the animals in front of you while listening to an introduction of them along the route on a tablet DVD (for a fee). You can go around the Safari Zone as many times as you like during your visit to the park. You can go around again if you missed something or if you are curious about something!
In the “petting zone,” there are capybaras, hedgehogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals that you can interact with directly. There is also a forest of squirrel monkeys, a petting farm, a horseback riding corner, and the popular “Kangaroo Petting Forest” where you can interact with kangaroos.
Visitors can also relax and spend time with cute dogs and cats at the Dog Salon and Cat Salon.
There is also a “restaurant,” a “snack corner,” and a souvenir corner where you can buy stuffed animals, jungle bus toys, and shop-only goods.
In addition, Beppu, famous for its hot springs, is only about 30 minutes away by car.
After a full day of African Safari, why not stay overnight in Beppu and relax in the hot springs?
On the following day, we also recommend visiting the Beppu Jigoku Meguri (Hell Tour).
