Hi, hello!
I’m Nyata, a Tsushima leopard cat. I’m the mascot character of Enjoy Kyushu ♪
From now on, I’ll be introducing my beloved hometown, Tsushima, little by little!
Tsushima is an island floating in the Tsushima Strait between Kyushu and Korea, and it’s known as the “Island of the Border.”
Blessed with rich nature, it offers plenty of activities such as cruises and sea kayaking, as well as many historical sites and breathtaking scenic spots.
By jetfoil (high-speed ferry), it takes about 2 hours and 15–30 minutes from Hakata Port (Fukuoka) or from Busan (Korea).

This time, I’d like to introduce the Taishuba Horse ♪
The Taishuba Horse is one of the eight native horse breeds in Japan and is an indigenous breed unique to Tsushima. It is known for its gentle nature and small, compact body.
In the past, these horses were used for horse tillage, plowing fields and carrying heavy loads (sometimes as much as 100 kg!). Families often owned one or two horses, and before small trucks existed, they played an essential role in daily life.
Compared to thoroughbreds, they are smaller and sturdier, but they are kind, gentle horses with adorable dark eyes that have supported and lived alongside people for generations.
You can meet Taishu horses at the Fureai Ranch (Aso Bay Park) or at Mehoro Dam Equestrian Park on Tsushima Island.
Tsushima Island is about 2 hours and 15 minutes by jetfoil from Hakata Port.
Why not take a jetfoil ride and go meet the Taishu horses yourself?
