Round-the-Kyushu trip to famous sightseeing spots (Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, Kagoshima)

This is a Round-the-Kyushu trip that takes you to famous sightseeing spot tour in 13 days.
You will enjoy the unique scenery of Unzen, Yufuin, Aso, Takachiho, and Sakurajima, all of which are representative of Kyushu’s spectacular landscapes.
In addition, you can enjoy the famous hot springs of Beppu and Unzen, as well as the cultural experiences unique to Kyushu, such as powdered green tea and painting Hakata dolls.
For food, we will prepare meals that are unique to each region.
You can also enjoy Hakata’s food stalls (free meals).
Since there are two consecutive nights in the itinerary, you can fully enjoy your trip around Kyushu at a leisurely pace.

Day1

Fukuoka Airport International Airport- Fukuoka City

Upon arrival at Fukuoka Airport, an English-speaking assistant will meet you at the arrival lobby and accompany you to your hotel for check-in.
For dinner, enjoy Fukuoka’s famous yatai stalls and local cuisine in the vicinity of your hotel. (on your own)

Day2

Fukuoka City – Karatsu – Imari – Sasebo

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
Depart from the hotel by private car for Kagamiyama Observatory, famous for its cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring. Enjoy the wonderful view from the observatory.
If the weather is fine, you can see as far as the Korean Peninsula.
After that, enjoy the scenic Nijinomatsubara, one of the three most beautiful pine forests in Japan and a special national scenic beauty spot, from the car window,
You will visit the Nagoya Castle Museum, which was the base of Hideyoshi Toyotomi’s invasion of Korea, and experience matcha (green powdered tea) at the Golden Tea room.
For lunch, head to Yobuko, famous for its squid, and enjoy a live squid dish.
After lunch, enjoy a visit to Imari Okawauchiyama, the home of the famous secret kilns of Saga’s Imari ware porcelain which are collected in museums around the world, and visit a kiln.
After that, you will visit Huis Ten Bosch, a theme park that recreates the streets of the Netherlands.
Dinner will be provided at the hotel.

Day3

Sasebo

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
Enjoy a visit to Huis Ten Bosch, a theme park that recreates the streets of the Netherlands.
There are many fun attractions such as a boat cruise on the canals, the Takarazuka Revue Theater, and VR.
Sasebo City, where Huis Ten Bosch is located, is famous for its hamburgers and lemon steaks.
Please try them for lunch or dinner (on your own).
At night, you can enjoy fireworks and illumination.

Day4

Sasebo – Nagasaki – Unzen

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
In a private car, visit Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum which conveys the horrors of the atomic bombing to future generations. You will be guided to the Peace Memorial Park, where the Peace Statue symbolizes the wish for peace of the citizens of Nagasaki.
Enjoy Chinese cuisine for lunch.
After lunch, you will stop at the Aino Observatory where you can see both the beautiful view of Tachibana Bay below and Mount Unzen to the southeast in one look.
Afterwards, you will visit Unzen Jigoku (Hell) and head back to the hotel.
Dinner will be served at the hotel, followed by a relaxing evening soak in the Unzen Onsen hot spring.

Day5

Unzen – Kumamoto – Aso

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
Depart from the hotel by private car and visit Shimabara Castle, one of the most famous historical buildings in Shimabara. you will walk around Shimabara Buke Yashiki (samurai residences), where you can learn about the life of Shimabara samurai of that time.
Afterwards, you will take the Ocean Arrow, a super high-speed car ferry, to Kumamoto Port. In Kumamoto, you will have lunch at Josaien (on your own), try wearing a kimono and visit Kumamoto Castle.
In the evening, enjoy a hot spring in Aso and dinner at a hotel.

Day6

Aso – Yufuin

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
Departing from the hotel by private car, you will visit Mt. Aso, one of the world’s largest volcanoes, which is still emitting smoke in its caldera.
You will visit the crater of that volcano. Afterwards, you will stop at Daikanbo, where you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the mountain.
For lunch, you will go to the open-air theater TAO Hill (on your own). Enjoy a Japanese Taiko drum performance in the great outdoors.
Spend the night in Yufuin, one of the most popular hot spring resorts in Japan and enjoy a hot spring bath in the evening.

Day7

Yufuin-Beppu 

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
Depart from the hotel by private car for the town of Yufuin, where old buildings stand side by side as if you were transported back in time to the world of historical dramas, and enjoy a stroll along Yunotsubo Kaido (Yunotsubo Street) and take pictures at Kinrin-ko Lake. A rickshaw ride is also available.   
For lunch, you will move to Beppu and enjoy Beppu’s specialty, Jigoku-mushi (steamed food from hell).
Afterwards, you will visit Umi-Jigoku and Onishi-Boju Jigoku, both designated as national scenic spots, and visit the Jigoku Onsen Museum, which opened in 2023.   
In the evening, enjoy Beppu Onsen, which hot springs boast one of greatest amount of water discharge in Japan.

Day8

Oita – Takachiho  

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.   
You will take a private car to the National Treasure “Usuki Sekibutsu (Stone Buddha)” which has been a national treasure for more than 1,000 years.
The Magaibutsu, the first Buddha statues in Kyushu to be designated as national treasures, are said to have been created between the late Heian period and the Kamakura period.   
There are more than 60 stone Buddhas in four groups, 59 of which are national treasures. The tour will then proceed to Takachiho Gorge.
Lunch will be served at an old folk residence in Takachiho Gorge.The Takachiho area in Miyazaki Prefecture is home to numerous myths. You will stroll through Takachiho Gorge and head for Amano Iwato Shrine.
In the evening, you will watch a kagura performance at Takachiho Shrine.

Day9

Takachiho – Miyazaki Breakfast will be served at the hotel.

You will take a private car to Aoshima Shrine, where the sound of the waves and the whisper of the wind create a sacred atmosphere.   
The distinctive beach that comes into view with the torii gate is called the “Devil’s washboard”.
Enjoy lunch with Miyazaki’s specialties such as chicken nanban (on your own).
After lunch, you will go to Sun Messe Nichinan where Moai statues stand in a row and enjoy the tropical atmosphere.
Afterwards, you will visit Udo Shrine, where the main shrine is built in a natural cave.
It is said that if you throw a lucky ball (using your left hand for men and using your right hand for women) and it enters the hollow of the square, your wish will come true.
For dinner, enjoy Miyazaki’s local cuisine (on your own).

Day10

Miyazaki – Kagoshima

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
Depart for Kagoshima by private car.
On the way, stop by Kirishima Shuzo, famous for its imo-jochu (sweet potato shochu), and enjoy a tour of the brewery and tasting.
Lunch will also be served at the sake brewery.
You will then visit Sengan-en Garden, a World Heritage Site and one of the most famous gardens in Japan, built 350 years ago.
The adjacent Shoko Shuseikan, the oldest existing Western-style factory building in Japan, is a component of the “Industrial Revolutionary Heritage of Meiji Japan” and is registered as a World Cultural Heritage site.
Please enjoy Kurobuta pork and other Kagoshima’s local cuisine for dinner (on your own).

Day11

Kagoshima – Chiran – Kagoshima

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
You will drive to Chiran by private car.
You will visit Kawabe-cho a town which is famous for maki-e or raden for a maki-e or raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) experience.
After lunch (on your own), you will head for Chiran Buke Yashiki Street.
Enjoy the Chiran Buke Yashiki Garden with a stroll.
Chiran was the site of am Army Chiran Special Attack Unit Base at the end of World War II. Visit the “Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots” built on the site of the former airfield.
You will visit the “Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots”, which stands on the site of the old airfield, and see the artifacts and related materials of the Army Kamikaze Pilots who launched body attacks on enemy ships with bomb-armed aircrafts, which was unprecedented in human history, during the battle of Okinawa.
After returning back to Kagoshima City, please enjoy Kagoshima’s local cuisine for dinner (on your own).

Day12

Kagoshima – Fukuoka 

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
You will take a private car to Shiroyama Park, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Kagoshima City and Sakurajima.
After that, you will take the Shinkansen to Hakata. Ekiben lunch box is recommended for lunch (on your own).
In the afternoon, you will visit the old town of Hakata and experience painting Hakata dolls.
Enjoy Hakata’s local cuisine for dinner (on your own).

Overnight stay in Fukuoka City (1 night)

Day13

Fukuoka – Fukuoka Airport International Flight

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
Enjoy shopping and strolling in Fukuoka’s city center Tenjin, Canal City and the new LaLaport Fukuoka, which was built in 2022, until departure time for the airport.
In time for your flight, you will be transferred by private car to Fukuoka Airport for your international flight.
Upon arrival, check in. We hope you enjoyed your five-day trip to Kyushu. See you again soon!
