When visiting Fukuoka, ramen shops are definitely something you’ll want to check out.
So we conducted a survey among our staff at JTB Fukuoka Branch!

Here are the survey results!

We immediately visited several ramen shops!

Staff A:
“Wow, no wonder the #1 spot ‘Hakata Ramen ShinShin’
had such a long line!
By the way, what was everyone’s favorite?”

Staff B:
“I really liked the ‘Miso Ramen’ at ‘Hakata Kawabata Dosanko’!
It had chashu pork, green onions, and menma bamboo shoots as toppings, and the curly noodles mixed perfectly with the soup—so tasty.
A-chan, the Shio Butter Ramen you had looked delicious too!”

Staff A:
“Yeah! The broth was light, but the butter added richness. I enjoyed how the flavor changed as I melted the butter in it.”

Staff B:
“By the way, ‘Hakata Kawabata Dosanko’ is a rare, long-established Sapporo-style ramen shop in Fukuoka. They have a wide variety of menu items like miso, shoyu, shio, champon, yakisoba, and sara udon. Not only is their ramen amazing, but their fried rice is also absolutely delicious.”

Foreign Staff C:
“For me, nothing beats a rich, flavorful tonkotsu ramen! I ordered the ‘Chashu Noodles’ at Menya Gaga, and it was exactly the rich style I love. It came topped with three kinds of chashu: regular chashu, grilled chashu, and finely chopped chashu. Especially the grilled chashu and the spicy sauce added a great accent.”

Staff A: “Menya Gaga was great, wasn’t it? Not only was the ramen delicious, but the shop’s atmosphere felt like a stylish cafe too.”

Staff B: “The dining pedestal* at Menya Gaga was great too, wasn’t it?”

*This dining pedestal was designed to make eating ramen easier, prevent soup from splashing onto your chest, and allow you to eat at the optimal height without tiring your arms.

Staff A: “I have to say, the noodles and soup at ‘Hakata Ramen ShinShin’ were absolutely delicious! Not too rich, not too light, not too heavy, not too light—just the perfect, universally appealing flavor!
By the way, as someone who loves ajitama (seasoned boiled egg), I personally prefer the ajitama at ‘Hakata Kawabata Dosanko’.”

Foreign Staff C:
“The ‘Miso Tonkotsu Ramen’ at ‘Hakata Ramen ShinShin’ was delicious too. It didn’t have any strong flavors, so even as a foreigner, it was easy for me to eat.
Still, it was great that almost all the shops we visited this time had foreign language menus. Having foreign language menus makes it easier to try different flavors too!”

Staff A: “The other day, I went with Staff D, who’s vegan, to ‘BUGORO ALL VEGAN’. Their ‘Rice Flour Noodle Vegan Tantanmen’ was delicious—the chewy noodles paired with that rich, creamy peanut-like soup!
It’s a hidden gem that only fits about seven people, but the place was packed with foreign vegan customers.”　　　　　　　

Staff B:
“As something different, there’s also the ‘Tonkotsu Ramen’ that comes with the set meal at ‘Menya Ono Shokudo,’ run by that famous Ono Group!”

Foreign Staff C:
“I went to ‘Menya Ono Shokudo’ yesterday! The ‘all-you-can-eat extra noodles’ with the Tonkotsu Ramen is the best!!”

Staff B: “They even have a unique sign saying ‘Extra charges for leftovers from your set meal’!”

The staff’s conversation is still going strong (talk about delicious food really gets everyone talking!).
If you ever come to Fukuoka, be sure to try the flavors at all the different ramen shops!
